Normally, when a new poultry
house is build and equipped with the most modern equipment for poultry housing,
farmers in the Netherlands organise an open door day to invite collegues and
friends for a visit to the house, just before the birds come in. Due to hygiene
measures, most open door days in the Netherlands were cancelled, because of the
outbreak of infectous coryza in the centre of the country.
Unfortunately, the open door
day of family Davelaar in Kootwijkerbroek was also cancelled. They build an
impressive 2 tiered house for 36.000 barn egg producing layers, equipped with a
Bolegg Terrace aviary system from equipment supplier Vencomatic. This
innovative company tough found a new way to show farmers around in a new build
house; a digital open door day. Vencomatic collected representatives from all
involved companies on farm and made a movie with an explanation by the
representatives. This movie was then broadcasted on the internet, where poultry
farmers could login and visit the poultry farm.
The digital open door day was
very well visited, and therefore a big succes. A short version of the movie
with english subtitles can be found on the website www.vencomatic.net
