At the 13th international fair Pigs & Poultry Farm, organized
January 29th till 31rd in Poznan, the Bolegg Terrace system of
Vencomatic won a golden innovation award in the poultry sector. The
jury knowledged the Bolegg Terrace as the most innovative housing
system for commercial layers. The exhibition was very successful for
Vencomatic, as there was a lot of interest from the visitors in the
housing systems of Vencomatic, like the Bolegg Terrace.
Poland is part of the European Union. Poultry farmers are therefore
obliged to change the production from traditional battery cages into
an alternative system before 2012. In this matter, the aviary systems
have now been recognized to be a good alternative, as practice shows
these systems are a profitable way to produce barn or free range eggs.
The Polish market is currently mainly focused on (enriched) cage egg
production, but driven by the German export market, interest in aviary
systems is growing. Practice also shows that currently equipped aviary
installations are more profitable then the enriched cage installations.
The Bolegg Terrace is an aviary row system, which is designed around
the natural behavior of the laying hen. This improves results, as the
birds follow their instinct and the poultry manager has the whole
process under control. Because the birds can move up through the
system, without having to jump from one row to another, the rows can be
placed with a wide space in between. This creates wide passage ways,
which is easy for control and cleaning out the house.
